U15 Canadians Close Out Regular-Season Schedule With Losses in Kelowna
The U15 AAA Greater Vancouver Canadians completed ther regular-season schedule over the weekend, losing 6-1 and 8-1 to the first-place Okanagan Rockets at MNP Place in Kelowna.
The Canadians lost their final 11 games of the season, and finished with a 4-24-1-1 mark in their 30 games.
In Saturday’s game, Brian Woolfenden scored his team-high 15th goal of the season, with Braelyn Nunley and Markus Sivak picking up the assists.
On Sunday, Markus Sivak scored GVC’s only goal, his fifth of the campaign, with Koen Lee collecting the lone assist. All five of Sivak's goals came in the last 12 games of the season.
As mentioned, Woolfenden’s 15 goals are No. 1 on the club, and he also leads GV with 23 assists and 38 points. Braelyn Nunley, meanwhile, is second on the team in all three categories, with 13 goals, 19 assists, and 32 points. Leander Han finished the season third in these three categories, with 12 goals, 16 assists, and 28 points.
In goal, both Andre Kwan and Kaz Patrick-Russell made 16 appearances with 15 starts. Kwan led the way with three victories, and Patrick-Russell recorded a solid 4.46 goals-against average.
The U15 Canadians will now participate in the U15 playoff tournament featuring all eight clubs in the division beginning on Feb. 27 at the Canlan Ice Sports Langley Twin Rinks.
